Lessons

Bridgewater Driving School’s goal is to develop within each student the skills   necessary to become a responsible driver.  Bridgewater Driving School promises to provide each student with the care and personal attention they deserve.  Our lessons provide a safe comfortable learning environment for each student, based upon their individual needs.

Important points to consider when making a decision for your student driver.

 - We do not teach more than one student at a time.  If you are scheduled for a two-hour lesson, you are the only student in that car for the two full hours.

 - We do not use your student’s lesson as a means to run to our next lesson.  If you have a two-hour lesson, the last half hour of that lesson does not include you driving to the next student’s house to pick them up for their lesson.  Your two-hour lesson time is devoted to you and only you.

 - We never take students on the highway until their final lesson.  Driving in advanced conditions and on advanced roadways is something that is worked up to when the student is comfortable to do so.

 - We are flexible in scheduling.  We provide lessons seven days a week and do our best to accommodate each students schedule involving sports, after school activities, etc.

 - The one thing we ask you to contribute towards a safe driving experience is your feedback.  If you ever feel tired, nervous, or are just very busy and unable to focus well due to school and other activities. (i.e. exams, sports practice) please let us know.  There are things that can affect your driving before you even step foot in a car, and realizing this is one of the first things we try to teach here at Bridgewater Driving School.

 - And lastly, Relax!!!  There are plenty of reasons to be nervous about learning to drive for the first time (especially if you are the student's parent!), we pride ourselves in the ability to communicate at a comfortable level with our students to provide a safe and fun learning experience.

Additional Services

Road Test:  This package covers it all.  Our students are picked up on the day of their test typically 1 1/2 hours prior to their actual Road Test time, from either home or school.  The instructor provides a 1-hour review lesson to work on Parallel Parking, K-Turning, Backing in a straight line and other critical aspects of the test.  This time is also used to assess the students current skill level.  Instructors typically see things in the students driving that a parent/guardian  may overlook.  We can make the necessary adjustments and keep the student focused.  Bridgewater Driving School prides itself in its ability to see their students through this process.

Once at the actual Road Test Location, the instructor will step aside once the MVC Examiner approaches the vehicle and wait for the student while they are on their actual Road Test.  Upon successful completion of the Road Test, the instructor will accompany the student to the NJ MVC office for license processing and then return the student to their home or school.

NOTE: When a student arrives at the NJMVC Road Test, the MVC Examiner expects that the individual taking the Road Test is ready to demonstrate the necessary driving skills required to obtain their license.

One important consideration regarding the "Review" is that this is the day of the Road Test.  We do not consider this valuable "Review" lesson as "teaching" time.  If within the first few minutes of the review, it becomes apparent to our instructor the student is not sufficiently prepared to attempt the Road Test, the instructor will contact the Bridgewater Driving School office and we will then contact the parent/guardian.

***Because of the popularity of this service, advanced notice of 5 -6 weeks before the actual Road Test date should be considered to assure availability of an instructor for you test date.

Skills Assessment: This lesson time can be used for anyone currently possessing a New Jersey Driver's License or Learner's Permit.  Our instructors are here to work on anything you feel you may need help with.  It can also be used as an evaluation to assess the strength's and weaknesses in your driving and conference with you to determine if you might need more instruction.  A two (2) hour minimum is required.  Skills assessment should not be considered if you simply want to practice parallel parking.  Our Road Test service can help with the final brush up on parallel parking on your test day.

DMV Mandatory Visitations: From time to time, situations arise when NJMVC will require a sixteen (16) year old student and parent/guardian to physically visit a Local MVC Agency or MVC Regional Center.  If the student is sixteen (16) years of age, a driving school will have to be present with the student during this visit.  Bridgewater Driving School can accompany you to the DMV's Agency or arrange to meet you to assist in this process

Reasons that this service may be necessary:

1. Information in the NJMVC records system reflects information that conflicts with the applicants and they must be at an Agency for in-person verification of identification.

2. Students that need to visit an agency due to foreign documentation that requires a one-on-one interview with an MVC supervisor, an example of this would be a student that is here under an H-1 Visa.

Although this is not all that common, Bridgewater Driving School is prepared to assist in this process.
